MANAGEMENT:

Chief Financial Officer: Mark R. Schonau brings more than twenty-five years of leadership in financial and operations management to Champions. Mr. Schonau previously served as Chief Financial Officer for Insys Therapeutics a development stage biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering, developing, and commercializing products to address cancer-related pain and CINV. Prior to that, Mr. Schonau served as CFO of Axway, Inc., a leading global provider of collaborative business solutions from January 2006 through August 2007. From January 2001 to January 2006, Mr. Schonau served as CFO and Senior Vice President of Administration for Cyclone Commerce, a business-to-business systems provider that was acquired by Axway in 2006. Upon Cyclone's acquisition by Axway, Mr. Schonau became the North American Chief Financial Officer of the surviving entity. From 1988 to 2000, Mr. Schonau also served as CFO for two public companies; Viasoft (NASDQ – VIAS) and CyCare (NYSE – CYS). Mr. Schonau was also employed by the accounting firm of Ernst & Young LLP from January 1981 to May 1988. He is a member of the Arizona and American Institutes of Certified Public Accountants and currently sits on the board of directors of the Arizona Technology Council. Mr. Schonau received a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Arizona State University.

Chief Medical Officer (Consultant): Eric K. Rowinsky, M.D. received his B.A. degree from New York University and his M.D. from the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Following his residency in internal medicine at the University of California, he completed fellowship training in medical oncology and clinical pharmacology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.  From 1987 to 1996, Dr. Rowinsky served as an Associate Professor of Oncology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine where he performed seminal clinical development and pharmacologic studies on paclitaxel, docetaxel, irinotecan, topotecan, among other agents.  From 1996 to 2004, he served as the Director of Clinical Research and later Director of the Institute for Drug Development of the Cancer Therapy and Research Center in San Antonio where he held the SBC Endowed Chair for Early Drug Development and was a lead investigator on early developmental studies of many classes of targeted therapeutics such as erlotinib, gefitinib, panitumumab, temsirolimus, ridaforolimus, trabectedin, and many other agents.  He was also Clinical Professor of Medicine in the Division of Medical Oncology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio from 1996 to 2006.  From 2005 to 2007, Dr. Rowinsky served as the Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President at ImClone Systems, responsible for clinical development and regulatory affairs at ImClone Systems. From 2007 to 2009, he was an Executive Vice President of ImClone Systems, which became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Eli Lilly after its acquisition.  He is also an Adjuvant Professor of Medicine at New York University School of Medicine and currently serves as a scientific advisor to ImClone Systems and other pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies, with a focus on cancer therapeutic development.  Prior to joining ImClone in 2005, Dr. Rowinsky was a longstanding NCI principal investigator on U01 anticancer drug development grants and integrally involved in pivotal clinical and preclinical investigations which lead to the development of both classical chemotherapeutics and targeted therapies including a wide variety of cytotoxic and targeted anticancer therapeutics.  
 
Dr. Rowinsky is the Editor-in-Chief of Investigational New Drugs, an Associate Editor and Editorial Board Member of Cancer Research (Associate Editor and Reviews Editor), Clinical Cancer Research, Annals of Oncology, Cancer Biology and Therapy and several other oncology journals and has published approximately 300 manuscripts in both the preclinical and clinical research fields.  He has also served on the Board of Directors, Scientific Advisory Board and Project Advisory Boards of a large number of pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and has advised and/or presented aspects of New Drug Applications to the FDA on several occasions.  Dr. Rowinsky’s honors include receipt of the career development award of the American Cancer Society and the 6th Annual Emil J. Freireich Award for outstanding achievement of a young researcher in clinical cancer therapeutics.  He has also served on the Board of Scientific Counselors of the NCI.

General Manager, Champions Biotechnology UK Ltd.: Guy Malchi, MBA brings more than twelve years of leadership and management experience within the bio-pharma industry. Mr. Malchi’s expertise is in deploying innovative strategies and developing new business relationships. Mr. Malchi previously served as Chief Executive Officer for Optimata Ltd., a development stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing biosimulation technologies that predict cancer patients’ response to treatment. Prior to that, Mr. Malchi was based in London with Tefen Ltd. (Tel-Aviv stock exchange: TEFN), an international management consulting firm where he served as the founding partner of Tefen’s successful European life science practice. Mr. Malchi received a bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering from Tel-Aviv University and an executive master’s degree in Business Administration from London Business School.   

Chief Scientist: Manuel Hidalgo, M.D., Ph.D. (pictured above, right) served as Director and as Scientific Advisor from June, 2007 until March, 2008. Dr. Hidalgo is a Professor of Oncology at the Universidad CEU San Pablo, Director of the Centro Integral Oncologia "Clara Campal" and Director of the Clinical Research Program at CNIO all in Madrid, Spain. Dr. Hidalgo is serving on the Scientific Advisory Boards of private and public companies, including Systems Medicine, Tau Therapeutics, Targeted Molecular Diagnostics and Monogram Biosciences. Dr. Hidalgo is considered a leading researcher in the field of targeted therapies for the treatment of cancer in patients with solid tumors. Dr. Hidalgo has published over 140 papers in prestigious cancer journals as well as numerous chapters in important text books. He has received numerous awards including an AACR Young Investigator Award, an NCI-EORTC fellowship and an ASCO Career Development Award. He has served on the editorial board of the Journal of Clinical Oncology and Clinical Cancer Research and is a Senior Editor for Molecular Cancer Therapeutics. Dr. Hidalgo has chaired the AACR and ASCO Program Committee in developmental therapeutics on numerous occasions and is frequently invited to speak at major national and international meetings. He chairs the Pancreatic Cancer Research Team, a nonprofit organization focused on clinical trials in pancreatic cancer, and is also a member of the NCI Developmental Therapeutics Study. Dr. Hidalgo is one of the inventors of the BPU sulfur analog compounds that the Company acquired in February, 2007.
